In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the Lincoln Memorial, Shawn and I are joining the team at Harvard's StoryWish and Chesterwood to discuss how rigorous research into the archives helped us create the book MONUMENT MAKER: Daniel Chester French and the Lincoln Memorial. How many blocks of marble did it to make the Lincoln statue? Why is one hand on the statue in a fist while the other is open? Why is the book mostly done in black and white? We'll be answering these questions and more!
Author Linda Booth Sweeney, illustrator Shawn Fields, and the team at Chesterwood talk about the creation of the book, Monument Maker, live on Zoom from 4:00-5:00 pm ET on Thursday, April 7th.
